Highly recommended.” ―Dan Lyons, author of the New York Times bestselling Disrupted: My Misadventure in the Start-Up Bubble and contributing writer of the HBO series Silicon Valley "Timely and important. Silicon States can hardly be more timely.” ―Frank Rose, author of The Art of Immersion

Really enjoyed this book. Given the prominence of tech in the media recently, it was great to sit down and take a look at the bigger picture. Greene brings together human musings, interviews with those in the know and some of the facts/figures and policy. It has been the fuel for half the conversations I have had this week... thought-provoking

I couldn't put it down. Greene brings to life one of the most important cultural and political shifts happening right now in an authoritative accessible way. Nice to see a woman writing about Big Tech too, not to mention so many women's voices in the text. Enjoy.

Perfectly timed and hugely relevant piece.

a fascinating read on such a timely subject.this book really pulls no punches and questions how tech corporations really impact our lives.a bit scary as well but thoroughly enjoyable, very thoroughly researched with a clear narrative that really does have you thinking!

a well reasoned and compelling look at how Silicon Valley is overreaching. We might want their goods and services, but we don't want them in our government or our healthcare. How big will they get? The author lays out her arguments clearly, and the chapter on government especially should be required reading.

Greene's account is a must-read read—not only for those in the industry, but for anyone who wants to know where our country (and world) is headed. As a futurist, Greene has a unique outsider's perspective on the inner workings of Silicon Valley and the costs/benefits of these companies encroaching on government and social infrastructures. As someone not working in tech, I thoroughly enjoyed having Greene guide me with with wit, humor, and acute insight through these important and timely topics. Highly recommend!

So boring! I didn't learn anything about tech from this. So many long paragraphs of block quotes without context, as if the author didn't have enough to say about the topic. I will not be recommending this one for my book club!

Highly recommended for anyone interested in how Silicon Valley has made "changing humanity an industry."
