As a long time Kevin Tumlinson fan, I really enjoyed the Dan Kotler stories. The Brass Hall was excellent but too short. The God Extinction finally picks up the story line, albeit 20 years later. The stories continue to have enough historical truth, goegraphical detail and plausability to be extremely entertaining. Personally, I have been going through mybown personal life and death struggle in real life. Having always been a voratious reader I always have at least 3 books going simultaleously, the bible usually being one of the three. My fiction reading provides a temporary respite from continous pain and fevers. In this book, I read it in it's entirety in a few hours. Spending time in Egypt, and at the dig sites. allowed me to be imersed in a place where I was so captivated times stood still. For me this is awesome. An excellent read & highly reccomended.
I have read all of the books in this series and follow Kevin Tumlinson on social media. When he responds, I tell him to stop messing around on social media and get to work so I can find out what happens next! He's very gracious about it, too. These books are more than just following the FBI and the expert who helps them to solve a mystery. Oh no! You are taken on a ride into strange and wonderful archaeological digs by one of the world's leading archaeologists who assists the FBI in their investigations of historical crimes which lead to even more crimes, plots and generally very bad bad guys in current times. The characters are very likable with their own history that unfolds as the books move their storyline forward. The research done by the author is just amazing! If you like a mystery, to travel to new places and see the wonders of this world as you read in the company of intelligent friends you really like, read these books. This last one, The God Extinction, is brilliant! When I finished (a process I tried to do as slowly as possible because I wanted to enjoy it even longer), I closed my eyes and thought about the sites the characters had seen and thought, "I wanna go!" I can't wait for the next book! Start at the beginning of the series so you'll be as crazy as I am for more!
While I've not read all of the previous books in the Dan Kotler series, I'd read enough to snap up the chance to order this one when it was available for pre-release purchase. I wasn't disappointed in this book. The adventure of Kotler and FBI partner Denzel from Historic Crimes division was non-stop. I enjoyed the exploration of the basic premise of comparative mythology, that there must have been a previous connecting civilization to account for the similarities of mythology of modern, non-connected societies.I recommend this book and look forward to future volumes as well as catching up on some of those I've missed that came before this one
This is my fourth 'Dan Kotler' book, and it most definitely won't be my last. I'm so hooked on Tumlinson's series that I pre-ordered this, and started reading the morning it came out. I don't often do that. I was very excited for it. I'm actually reading these all out of order, since "The Stepping Maze" was my first. I was as pleased with this story as I was the others, and will be watching for the next one.
I found this thriller on an Amazon email. Books recommended to me. Those book editors at Amazon really know me. I can only imagine having Dan Kotler as my new “go to hero.†I hated history in school, but now I so enjoy all of these conspiracy theories that I may have to audit a history course just to drink it all in. Love Steve Berry’s Cotton Malone and James Rollins’ Grayson Pierce. Welcome to my library, Dan Kotler.
Awesome, awesome read!I have read all of the Dan Kotler series and consider myself extremely lucky to have had this pleasure, as Kevin Tumlinson is pretty much the best author I have found so far! That being said, "The God Extinction" is my new favorite of this series!Thank you for writing this book, I'm looking forward to reading your next book!
I love the Dan Kotler series and have read them all. Well developed plots and characters make these a must read. I love the pre history aspects and the story moves at a fast pace from start to finish. Can’t wait for the next!!
Alright, I know it took me two days to finish this book but I had grocery shopping, laundry and visiting a sick friend to do also. I have been following Dan Kotler since the beginning. The Brass Hall explained Dan's reaction to situations around him. The God Extinction provides us with a grown-up view of life around the the same event. Definately a must read
