My mind can't connect the dots sometimes, on why this, or that verse is the response to some of the talking points,,but if I give time to study the whole text from which the verse was taken, plus some consult with an expert on the whole context,,then I can use all of it...

The thoughts are related to the 8 vices: Gluttony, Fornication, Money, Sadness, Anger, Listlessness, Vainglory, & Pride. Each vice comes with its own chapter with a list of thoughts & their corresponding scripture to combat them. Evil thoughts or vice are either from our own nature, our taught social taboos, or from spiritual evil. In Evagrius time more was placed on the influence from spiritual evil of Demons while today we combat our own imperfect nature & influence from social decay, yet based on Christian theology these 2 concepts come from the fall, or from spiritual evil. No matter what you believe on the origin of evil thoughts or vices this book will give you the scripture verse to combat them. I am collecting Evagrius of Pontus right now because he is one of 1st to develop a system to unite the medical, mental, & spiritual.
This book is extremely helpful for combating destructive thoughts.
