What an emotional roller coaster! Regardless of the taboo-ish relationship, and my inability to get sucked in for a little because I'm just burnt out I think, this one was written so beautifully I couldn't help but to fall in love with the characters and their fight to be together. Their struggles were ones I felt deep in my bones and at no point was I completely sure of what would happen. The twists blew my mind, and the fact that we'll be getting more was a pleasant surprise. Once it started moving, the heartfelt, gorgeous prose moved me, and was just a fantastic journey that each character had to take to get to where they ended up. It really made you think, and covered topics that were relevant to the subject at hand. This Author has a true gift of the written word and I hope she never stops writing!! When I finished reading Rebel Saint, I was in complete awe of what I had just read. Knowing ahead of time this book tackled such a taboo topic, I didn’t quite know what to expect. Had the story been written by anyone else, I’m not sure I would have picked it up. I’m so glad that I was a rebel and decided to read it.It’s so much more than some forbidden romance with a taboo story line. It’s not at all what I think people will expect. It’s an emotional, lyrically written, love story. She handled something so taboo with absolute grace and honesty.This story was written with heart and it definitely comes through on the pages. I found the story to be absolutely addictive. There were twists and turns throughout that I never saw coming a mile away.Tressa & Bastien’s story is so special. It’s real and raw; the angst and suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat. By the end, it will have you believing that love is the greatest gift; and it can truly conquer all. This story is an absolute work of art and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to read it.
Bastian and Teresa together was forbidden, wrong even. But their love-which came with so much tortured pain, and unforseen twist that was jaw- dropping (did not see that coming) was not to be denied. A deeply sensual, thought provoking story. This one will be with me for a while. Loved this book! A must read!
Excuse me just one second whilst I pick my jaw back up off the floor! I know that the blurb didn’t hide the fact that this was a taboo romance but it certainly didn’t give any indication as to the fact that I was going to be totally dumbfounded by it!The situation with Tressa and Bastian had me desperate, I was feverishly turning pages, desperate to find out just how it was all going to play out.Tressa and Bastian were great characters, both completely different in so many ways but that was what made them so complimentary, Tressa’s life had been far from easy but that didn’t make her a bad person, her heart was certainly in the right place and that spoke to me, she was one of the unfortunate ones…a good person caught in a bad situation. Bastian was such a forceful man, so determined and forthright he knew his own mind and he went for what he wanted…but, of course, there are consequences to that, one that both he and Tressa had to learn to live with.Theirs was a tale of two souls that knew they had met their match even before the rest of the body had caught up, neither of them particularly understood why they felt the way they did, they just knew that how they felt about each other was way more than they had ever experienced before and that had to count for something.I loved the peek that the author gave us into the dynamics of not just their relationship with each other but they personal relationship with themselves, the struggle that the both faced coming to terms with how the felt and what that meant for them. Of course, nothing is ever straight forward, life was more than willing to make them jump through all manner of hoops in order to be together but when they are tested, their “faith†in each other is only strengthened. A seriously engaging book, that is powerfully thought-provoking. This is a question of faith for modern times, and how that faith can and is tested.Loved it.
This was just an ok read for me. A forbidden love story with so many twist and turns that I found it so hard to keep up with what was going on. Some parts felt rushed and I couldn't connect with the characters. I felt like I didn't know enough about them to connect. There were good parts to Bastien and Tressa forbidden love story that I enjoyed.I Love this authors work and recommend her books. Just because I didn't love this one doesn't mean that you will not.Happy Reading Everyone!!!
