I would have given this a higher rating (a five actually) BUT the 'one' thing that kept me from doing so is the 'one' thing that would make this Kindle version absolutely perfect, and that is a "back button!" A back button that takes you right back to where you left off. All other aspects of this book for the Kindle version are great. Very easy to reference words as you are reading the bible. BUT this is where the frustrating part comes to play. When comparing the Hebrew or Greek word(s), or looking up a broader understanding of the word(s), that you are referencing, if you do not "remember" the "exact" verse that you are on you will surely lose your place! However, all is not lost. If you use the bookmark feature you can find your place again, but this can also get a bit frustrating, unless you are referencing every word on that particular page. If not, and you forget to remove the bookmark(s), you will have to remember which bookmark is for the page you were on last before having to find your place again. Most everyone's memories are not that bad, but still, a back button that takes you right back to where you left off is what makes this Kindle Version book a bit hard to deal with. If there was this same version available BUT with a "back button" that takes you right back to where you left off, and is available on Amazon.com for $25 or more, it would be money well spent and render this version useless. So, until then, I will still use it as much as I can. If it only had that ONE feature! Arg!
Read some reviews here stating it was difficult to navigate back to where one left off reading after accessing the concordance. Getting back is simple and easy. To go back simply look for the location bar at the bottom of the page...if it's not there tap on a blank spot anywhere along the center of the page and the bar will appear. Along the bar will be a slide showing your current location and there will also be two black dots...Those black dots are your two last locations...tap them to go back.
So, I needed a bible that has Strong's linking in the Old Testament. It has that, but it has the most kludgy navigation to get from book to book. Unlike most table of contents in other kindle bibles, when you click on OT or NT, it does not give you a list of books to select but starts at the beginning of that testament. To get to a book you have to go to the beginning and then scroll through all the books to find the one you want. The way it shows up is Genesis and all chapter numbers, then Exodus and all chapter numbers, etc. So if you want to get to Isaiah, you have to flip several pages to find that one. Then pick a chapter and it opens (finally). As a result, I only use it if I need to look up the Hebrew definition in the OT. My other bibles (The Parallel Greek / English Septuagint ,ESV, Essential Greek NT, etc) are all easier to navigate, and, if they offer original languages and Strongs, are much easier to use.
It is to hard to navigate. When you go to Strongs dictionary, there is no way back tothe passage you were reading in the bible. There maybe but I have not found a placefor help.
I grew up using the KJV - while I admit the "Shakespeare" language can be difficult for some people to understand, once you get used to the "thee's", "thou's", "spake's", and "begat's"; it's a really good translation (with an accompanying Strong's Dictionary) that reveals a lot about the Word of God.
It is nearly impossible to navigate this book on kindle and kindle app for iPhone. I got this because I thought it'd make it easier to just click a word and look up the meaning while reading the Bible. What I find is on both my kindle and the iPhone kindle app is , I can't even get to the book of the Bible I want without going page by page. On the iPhone if I accidentally touch a word, I can't back up to where I was. I have to go back to the beginning. For instance, if I'm read the book of John in the NT, I have to go to the beginning, click NT, the go page by page until I get to John. While doing that, if I accidentally the word "Thou", it moves to the dictionary/concordance and I'll have to go back to the beginning, click NT again and go page by page from Mathew!! It is exasperatingly and extremely frustrating to say the least and I'm highly disappointed. I would not recommend the kindle format to anyone.
I read it every morning! I can adjust the size of print to my eyes, and I love being able to see what a word means in the old English by tapping on the highlighted word and getting the definition instantly.
I have two different free versions of KJV with Strong's for my PC and my phone and both are easy to navigate and very intuitive to use, right from the start. I wanted one (KJV with Strong's) for my Kindle, so bought this one. Very disappointed. Clumsy, awkward, very difficult to navigate. Wouldn't recommend it at all. Will be OK for just reading, but that's it.
